Parkinson’s Awareness Support Association of the Tri-State to Host the Living Well with Parkinson’s Symposium April 3!
Parkinson’s Awareness Support Association of the Tri-State (PASATS) together with the Parkinson Support Center of Kentuckiana (PSCKY), will host the 2nd annual Living Well with Parkinson Symposium on April 3, 2019 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at Deaconess Gateway Pavilion, Ortho-Neuro Hospital, 4011 Gateway Blvd Newburgh, IN 47630. This one-day educational program is offered for persons with Parkinson’s disease (PD), their families, caregivers, and professionals caring for those with the disease.
“This year’s Symposium offers a tremendous range of education for attendees. A super-star line-up of speakers has been confirmed for this event. The keynote speaker will be noted author, and Parkinson Disease survivor John Baumann, who has delivered inspirational lectures helping others to understand (1) “The power of positive thinking” and (2) that there are things that they can do to influence their experience with PD whatever their role: as a patient, family care partner or professional healthcare provider” said Erika Branch, Parkinson Support Center’s Director.
The day will also feature presentations by notable medical experts on topics pertinent to “Living Well with Parkinson’s Disease. We are elated to introduce to the Evansville community Tanaporn Rasameesoraj, MD. Rasamaeesoraj completed her Neurology residency at university hospitals Case Medical Center, Cleveland, OH. She pursued fellowships in movement disorders at Cleveland Clinic, and currently sleep medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL. Dr. Rasameesoraj is a board-certified Neurologist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Movement Disorder Society, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Rasameesoraj will join the team at Deaconess Health Systems later this summer becoming Evansville’s first Movement Disorder Specialist.
Presenters will discuss topics such as “Gait Disorder”, “The Role of Exercise and Physical Therapy”, and Understanding Off Times”. Pre-Registration is required as the event is free of charge. All registrations include continental breakfast, and lunch.
