The 3 Pillars of our Services
PUBLIC EDUCATION AND AWARENESS.
There are many myths and much misinformation about Parkinson’s disease. There are many people living alone with the disease, often undiagnosed. Part of our mission is public education and awareness — to spread helpful information about PD and connect people with Parkinson’s to appropriate medical and support communities.
As part of our services, we provide education speakers, outreach to those in need, and caregiver training. We also participate in health fairs and collaborate with other agencies.
Exercise does make a difference! A number of studies show the benefits of a well rounded exercise program, which includes stretching, strengthening and aerobics. We offer a far-reaching range of exercise and activity programs.
People with PD benefit from exercise, with improved health, sleep and overall overlook. Research suggests exercise may have a special role in PD by increasing dopamine in the brain.
We sponsor a variety of support groups, including telephone and e-mail support, to help you connect with others. We are continually expanding our neighborhood support groups in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. We also offer in-person, one-on-one consultation.
We have hundreds of free resources on a variety of helpful topics, as well as an extensive lending library, which includes the latest books and DVDs. We will help you get the information you need!
